Chock-full of Batman lore, laugh-out-loud absurdity, and even some compelling tender moments, The Lego Batman Movie is probably better than most Batman films.
Logan is not like other comic book films. It is brutal and bleak. It has a small cast that it spends more time with. It’s also about one of the most pressing social issues of our day: absent fathers.
It’s hard to believe that it’s barely been a year since DC jumped on the cinematic universe bandwagon, announcing Batman V. Superman and moving to expand their horizons. More recently, DC and Marvel have announced exactly what movies they’re making and when, leading to a sort of nerd euphoria in the coming decade. It’s easy to loose track, so here’s a concise list of all comic book movies to be released through the year 2020.
Ever since Deadpool was butchered in the mostly atrocious X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Marvel fans have been clamoring for a Deadpool film to set the record straight, still hoping that Ryan Reynolds would pull off the Merc With a Mouth. It would appear that they are finally getting their wish in 2016, although Ryan Reynolds has yet to be confirmed. In the mass excitement that’s followed since the announcement last week, a lot of people are saying that in order for the film to be true to its source material, it must be rated R. But is that really the case? And if it is, then should Christians see it?
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a nerd movie update, so this time I’m combining it with some news going around from other movies. Not all of this will necessarily be news to everybody, but it’s still some pretty cool stuff.

Imagine that you had to pick someone you didn’t know personally that you’d have to depend on to save your life one day. What kind of person would you look for? What qualifications would you seek? Would you want someone with a history of criminal activity, greed, and general selfishness? If you’re anything like, you know, all of mankind, you’d want somebody who’s brave, kind, and selfless. Unfortunately, the galaxy has no time to be selective, so they’re stuck with a band of criminal misfits to be their guardians.
